The more I read around, the more I see articles and blog posts about how the iPhone can “take over” the gaming world.
Today I downloaded Terminator Salvation Lite from the iPhone app store to give it a spin. After 2 and a half minutes of gaming frustration I gave up.
Yes, I do enjoy the casual games that the app store has to offer to pass the time while waiting in line at a certain coffee shop, but once you get past Peggle, DoodleJump, Glyder and the likes, and are looking for something with alittle more meat to it, for me the iPhone just doesnt deliver.
Whether it be the uncomforable, unfamiliar, un-intuitive controls, or the fact that you may get interrupted in the middle of your gun-fight by a phone call (which since the iPhone cant handle more than one task at a time, the game restarts after you end your call) , the iPhone just cant compete in the real world of portable gaming.
Dont get me wrong - the graphics and screen are impressive, the app store has unlimited potential, and the user base of iPhones and iPod Touch’s is amazing.
But for this old dog gamer, the iPhone’s new tricks are too hard to learn.
